Upon calling to schedule an initial appointment, patients will be required to fill out and return new patient paperwork. Completed paperwork can be faxed to 614.273.0173. Once this paperwork is received and reviewed by our consulting physician, the initial appointment will be scheduled. Patients must bring their insurance card and physician referral, if applicable, to their first appointment. Patients are encouraged to dress in comfortable clothes that allow for movement as our treatments are interactive and require patient participation.
The initial Medical Restorative Massage Therapy® (MRMT®) treatment is 90 minutes in length. Subsequent appointments are scheduled for 60 minutes. All appointments include a detailed assessment of the patient’s current condition followed by hands-on treatment. In addition, the initial appointment includes a thorough review of the patient’s health history, observation of the patient’s preferred gait and posture, a complete hands-on evaluation and discussion of goals for treatment.
Upon completion of the assessment, the therapist creates a plan of care that is customized to the patient. Throughout hands-on treatment, the therapist and patient communicate with each other and the therapist will explain the issue, begin addressed by each technique. Questions are always welcomed and encouraged.
At the conclusion of the appointment, the therapist will make recommendations on scheduling future appointments. The frequency of appointments varies among patients and is dependent upon the patient’s needs and condition. However, the majority of new patients are scheduled for treatment every one to two weeks until entering a maintenance phase during which appointments are scheduled less frequently.
