The typical service progression for Medical Restorative Massage Therapy® has three phases:

  1. The Prime Appointment
  2. Restorative Phase
  3. Maintenance Phase

The first phase of treatment is the Prime Appointment, and the emphasis of this initial phase is to assess the patient's current condition and concerns, including a full review of the intake forms.  Based on this detailed assessment, the therapist develops a basic Plan of Care, and then completes the first treatment.

The primary focus and goal of the Restorative Phase of treatment is significant reduction of pain, significant improvement of physical function, or both.  The length of this phase of treatment varies from patient to patient, but a typical treatment schedule would be one appointment per week for four to eight weeks.

The primary focus and goal of the Maintenance Phase is to retain all the progress achieved in the Restorative Phase, while pursuing continued progress with respect to both pain reduction and physical function issues.  The ultimate goal is to help each patient regain, and then maintain, a healthy and active lifestyle.

In all three phases, the therapist will educate and coach each patient regarding self-help techniques that directly contribute to the patient's long term well-being.
