Our Patients
M. T. Wellness Clinic patients come in all shapes, sizes, and ages, and from all walks of life. But despite their diversity, they all have something in common. Each of them comes to us because they are experiencing pain, diminished physical function, or both. Many of our patients have tried other treatments before turning to Medical Restorative Massage Therapy®, because the initial treatments or therapies did not produce the desired results, or they involved side effects that were deemed unacceptable by the patient.
On any give given day, M. T. Wellness therapists work with patients who are experiencing pain or diminished physical function related to: Chronic illnesses including multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, lupus, Parkinson's disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and osteoarthritis Musculoskeletal dysfunction Injuries (at home or on-the-job) The normal aging process Pregnancy Automobile accidents Surgery and post-operative conditions.
All M. T. Wellness Clinic patients are created equal, and relieving their pain or discomfort is our mission and top priority. No ache, pain or challenge is too great or too small.
Our clinic has grown steadily since 1997, largely because of referrals from our patients and physicians. Our patients refer family members, friends and colleagues, and physicians refer their patients, because of the results produced by Medical Restorative Massage Therapy®.

From Nicole P: Medical restorative massage therapy has been a lifesaver. I have had chronic back pain and back problems since I was 18 years old. I have been to several doctors and have undergone several types of treatments including medication, physical therapy and traditional massage. None of these treatments have been as successful as the care I have received at MT Wellness Clinic. After one session I was amazed at how much better I felt. One chronic pain in particular that I thought I would have to live with for the rest of my life is gone and has not returned. The staff at M. T. Wellness is not only skilled at treating your pain, but they also excel at teaching their patients how to maintain their wellness at home.
I returned to M. T. Wellness after I had gotten pregnant with my second child. The sciatic nerve pain that left me on the couch and unable to function well at home or at work during my first pregnancy was not a problem for me during my second pregnancy due to the treatments I received at M.T. Wellness. I also had a spinal headache and residual tension headaches after a badly placed epidural and strenuous labor during my delivery of baby #2. My docs prescribed pain medication and caffeine which left me unable to think or function normally, two important things when caring for two small children. The treatments I received at MT wellness helped me more than the traditional medical care in terms of return of function and ease of pain without having to medicate myself.

I have had many different diagnoses of spine and muscle problems. MRMT is able to decrease my pain, muscle spasms, and enable me to function more normally. MT Wellness therapists have a complete understanding of anatomy and physiology and they demonstrate that. MT Wellness keeps my physician informed regarding my progress. They are professional in their communication and never act as though they don't have time for me. MT Wellness has a good understanding of my muscle and spine problems and uses many different techniques to reduce muscle spasms and decrease pain. I have been coming here for two years and three months. I had been on disability since 2001 and had chronic pain that severely limited what I could do. Previously I had gone to 12 different massage therapists. I have been under the care of a neurosurgeon, a physical medicine and rehabilitation doctor, a chiropractor, and two pain management doctors since 1992 when I had cervical fusion. All of the previous massage therapists made me hurt more after the massage than before the massage. When I came to MT Wellness, the therapists used different techniques than I had experienced before. I had reduced pain, reduced muscle spasms, equal leg length, and felt balanced. I have been able to function better and live more normally. I will never go anywhere else for a massage. I now drive thirty minutes to get here. I suggest to my friends with musculo-skeletal problems that they come here. I'm pain free. I never thought I would be able to say that about myself. I was in a car wreck in 1958 at the age of 15 and since that time I was always in pain. I took anti-inflammatory medication, muscle relaxers, and one time a shot of morphine directly into my back, nothing cured it. Then one day Thuy (Bowyer) touched my back and I just let out a yell. She scheduled me an appointment and my release from pain started. Thuy is guiding me to working on my own wellness through massage, yoga, Qi Gong, and reflexology, and drinking enough water. I'm writing to inform the OSU Managed Care System of my great experience with one of your providers, M. T. Wellness Clinic. I was referred for Myofascial Release/Soft Tissue therapy by my Primary Care Physician, Dr. xxx. I was in a great deal of pain and was unable to get an appointment quickly within the Managed Care System. I called M. T. Wellness on the afternoon on March 31st and had my first appointment with them the following Tuesday, April 4th. My therapist was Angel Lei. After the completion of 5 visits, I have experienced a marked improvement and am back on the way to pursuing a healthy, active lifestyle. Prior to my visit, walking was very painful, and now I'm able to walk 20-25 minutes and plan on trying to complete the "Race for the Cure" for the first time this year. Not only did Angel relieve much of my pain, she gave me many practical tips on how to help myself stay healthy and pain free. She never kept me waiting for my appointment and was very compassionate and encouraging. I think they are one of Columbus' hidden treasures and I just wanted to pass on my satisfaction with the kind of treatment and results they provided to me. Of course, I'm also thankful that the OSU Managed Care System has started providing these alternate treatments under our insurance system.
